Getting started

How to use Kept safely — start short, confirm safety release, then explore.

Welcome to Kept

Kept is a private, consent-based keyholding platform for adults. You create timed sessions, agree release rules, optionally assign a trusted keyholder or bounded automation, and keep a clear, timestamped record of every change.

Kept coordinates timers, unlock codes, logs, and communication. It does not physically control any device.

How Kept works

Every session is built around consent and clear limits. You set the rules up front, confirm them before the lock starts, and keep a full record of what happens.

Where to start

  • Short basic sessions
  • Generating and redeeming unlock codes
  • Emergency / safety release (in a separate short session)
  • Keyholder invites and permissions
  • Deck Mode, Blind Mode, automation — once basics are familiar

Good habits

  • Try a short session before committing to a long one
  • Confirm safety release works before serious use
  • Keep sensitive personal details out of feedback
  • Get comfortable with each module before relying on it

Emergency unlock is on by default

The session owner gets emergency unlock on by default. The locked user can disable it per lock (a one-way change once the lock is active). The maximum lock time always remains the hard limit. Test it early.

How to report things

Use the Report a bug button in the app menu, or the report control on a session or module. Pick a severity — including Safety concern or Privacy concern — so we can triage quickly.

Report confusing UI or timer issues immediately. Never include unlock codes or passwords.
